Pink oyster

(Pleurotus djamor)

A warm weather loving tropical variety

Our Pink oyster mushroom culture was originally sourced from ‘Coastal Mushrooms’, a well-respected local mushroom culture supplier here on Southern Vancouver Island, BC. They are a tropical species of oyster mushroom that prefers warmer temperatures to ours here in coastal BC. Luckily, at our indoor farm we are able to grow them during summer and autumn each year.

The rose petal looking Pink oyster mushroom bouquets that emerge from our grow blocks truly look like sculptured artwork, and that is what they are — nature’s fine art that also tastes incredible!

Some say they imagine the flavor of bacon when sautéing Pink oyster mushrooms, because of the umami scent and their fleshy appearance. Pink oyster mushrooms are ‘meaty’ in texture and have a distinct flavor that sets them apart from their oyster mushroom cousins, a delicious earthy sweetness that can transcend any meal to new places.
